Paragon 360 Completes Extensive Renovation Project for Germantown Baptist Church in Tennessee FOH

The project involved the renovation of the church’s sanctuary, lobby, and adjacent facilities. The scope of work included the removal of existing finishes, installation of new finishes, and the installation of new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Project Overview

The Germantown Baptist church in Germantown, Maryland, embarked on a significant renovation project in 2023, which involved the renovation of its sanctuary, lobby, and adjacent facilities. The project was contracted to Paragon 360, a leading architectural and engineering firm specializing in religious and educational institutions.

Key Objectives

  • Improve the overall aesthetic and functionality of the church’s sanctuary and lobby
  • Enhance the user experience for worship services and community events
  • Increase energy efficiency and reduce operating costs
  • Ensure compliance with current building codes and accessibility standards
  • Design and Construction Process

The renovation project involved a comprehensive design and construction process, which included:

  • Design Phase: The project team conducted a thorough analysis of the church’s existing facilities, identifying areas for improvement and opportunities for expansion. The design phase involved the creation of detailed architectural and engineering plans, including 3D models and renderings. Permitting and Approvals: The project team obtained necessary permits and approvals from local authorities, ensuring compliance with building codes and zoning regulations. Construction Phase: The construction phase involved the removal of existing finishes, installation of new finishes, and the installation of new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. The project team worked closely with the church’s leadership and staff to ensure minimal disruption to worship services and community events.

This presented a significant challenge in terms of aesthetics and functionality.

The Challenge of Aesthetics and Functionality

The main platform space was a large, open area with a high ceiling, which presented a unique challenge in terms of designing a system that would meet the required loudspeaker placement criteria. The existing soffits, which were designed to house the old PA system, were not compatible with the new loudspeaker design. This meant that the new loudspeakers had to be mounted in a way that would not only meet the acoustic requirements but also maintain the aesthetic appeal of the space. The design team had to carefully consider the placement of the loudspeakers to ensure that they were not visible from the audience, while also providing an even distribution of sound throughout the space. The team also had to ensure that the loudspeakers were not obstructed by the existing soffits, which added to the complexity of the design.*

The Solution: A Customized Loudspeaker System

After careful consideration and collaboration with the design team, Paragon developed a customized loudspeaker system that met the required acoustic and aesthetic criteria. The system consisted of a combination of Powersoft amplification and Fulcrum loudspeakers, which were specifically designed to meet the unique requirements of the main platform space. The loudspeakers were mounted in a way that minimized their visibility from the audience, while also providing an even distribution of sound throughout the space.

The new system included a 4K resolution, 12-camera setup, and a state-of-the-art audio system.
