The Birth of Audium

Audium is a sound art installation that was born out of the San Francisco Art Institute’s (SFAI) desire to create a space that would challenge the traditional boundaries of art. The brainchild of SFAI’s founder, Walter Hauser, Audium was first conceived in the 1970s. Hauser envisioned a space where sound and art would come together to create a new form of expression. This innovative idea was met with skepticism at first, but it eventually gained traction and became a reality.
