Eos & Nyx, a renowned dining destination in San Jose, has taken its ambiance to the next level by installing a meticulously designed d&b audiotechnik xS-Series sound system. This exceptional audio installation, provided by Commercial Audio Video Solutions, has consistently impressed guests with its clarity, depth, and seamless integration into the restaurant’s sophisticated design.
The Objectives
According to co-owner Dan Phan, Eos & Nyx aimed to create an audio environment that matched the high standards of the restaurant’s cuisine and décor. The team needed to ensure:

The Design Process
The design process was highly collaborative, balancing acoustic performance with aesthetic considerations. Commercial Audio Video Solutions’ Don Lynch worked closely with Basile Studios, the design firm responsible for the restaurant’s interior.

The Installation
The d&b audiotechnik xS-Series sound system consists of:
• 4 x 24S loudspeakers powered by 1 x 30D amplifier in the main dining area
• 2 sets of identical components in the downstairs and mezzanine bars, each comprising 4 x 8S and 1 x 5S loudspeakers, along with 2 x Bi8-SUB subwoofers powered by 2 x 5D amplifiers
Technical Details
The 24S loudspeakers were chosen for their extended low-frequency output, which negated the need for subwoofers in the main dining area. The loudspeakers were mounted high and aimed down to the listening area to avoid unwanted reflections from the open ceiling and glass facade. In the bar areas, custom-colored 8S speakers were used to ensure even coverage. Ultra-compact Bi8-SUB subwoofers were hidden above an acoustically transparent ceiling to provide more low-frequency impact.
The Results
The d&b audiotechnik installation has been overwhelmingly positive, enhancing the overall dining and event experience at Eos & Nyx. Phan praised the system’s quality, convenience, and seamless integration.
