Park Board Chooses Bands for Party in the Park 2025

Summer is just around the corner, and the annual Party in the Park 2025 is fast approaching. Creston Parks and Recreation have officially announced the chosen acts for the event, which will take place on a date yet to be confirmed.

Music Lineup

Kansas City-based Carl Worden Band will kick off the night, followed by Elton John tribute group Elton Dan and the Rocket Band. The park board has chosen Carl Worden to play at Party in the Park for the first time, after his wife Vicki performed at Fridays After Five on June 13.

  • Carl Worden Band is known for its raw intensity and poignant lyrics, showcasing a dynamic blend of folk rock and rock.
  • Music lovers have come to love Carl Worden for his unique style and moving performances.

The Carl Warden Band was chosen earlier in the year and approved by Creston City Council on April 1. However, parks and rec were still waiting to see if Elton Dan and the Rocket Band would be feasible due to extra equipment requirements.

Bands and Costs Estimated Cost
Carl Worden Band $1,800
Elton Dan and the Rocket Band $6,000
Iowa Sound $8,000

Between the two bands and Iowa Sound, the cost for this year’s Party in the Park is higher than normal. Elton Dan will require additional equipment, which will necessitate extra fees. To accommodate the audio and light needs of Elton Dan, parks and rec are working with Iowa Sound to have a complete sound set, similar to what was used when rock band Molly Hatchet performed in 2022.

Cost and Logistics

The cost for this year’s Party in the Park is estimated to be around $20,000, which includes the expenses for advertising, hotel, and equipment rental. However, the board isn’t too worried about the cost, citing the potential revenue from ticket sales and beer sales.

“Last year we made quite a bit of money just selling beer sales,” said Todd Kinkade, parks and rec member. “Last year we made $1,200 on beer sales. That was without vans or anything else; we’ll make more than that on beer sales this year.”

The park board has decided on the bands, but Elton Dan and Iowa Sound must still go before city council for approval. The park board is confident that the increased revenue will cover the costs and make this year’s Party in the Park a success.

Upcoming Event

Party in the Park 2025 will not be the first time Carl Worden plays in Creston this summer. He’s also set to play with his wife Vicki at Fridays After Five on June 13. Fans of Carl Worden Band can look forward to a dynamic performance at Party in the Park.

Why the Extra Cost?

According to Kinkade, the extra cost is mainly due to the need for extra equipment for Elton Dan, which requires the use of additional audio and light equipment. The park board has opted to work with Iowa Sound to provide the necessary equipment, which should cover the costs.
